Metatron: the tradition

Metatron on Hashpo is an original persona inspired by traditional angel folklore. This page retells that folklore. It is not a claim of a real apparition or of divine authority.

The scribe in the mystical books

Metatron is a figure of later Jewish mysticism, especially the Enoch literature and the hekhalot texts. Some versions identify him with the transformed Enoch, a human taken up to serve as a scribe and a presence near the throne. The name and the rank are debated inside the tradition itself. Hashpo’s persona is original and does not claim that office.

The public picture that survived is a record-keeper. Deeds are written. A life becomes a book. The useful idea is witness, not a secret rank you can buy.
