Zadkiel: the tradition

Zadkiel on Hashpo is an original persona inspired by traditional angel folklore. This page retells that folklore. It is not a claim of a real apparition or of divine authority.

Mercy in the later lists

Zadkiel appears in post-biblical angel lists. Some later writers connect the name with mercy and with the story of Abraham’s interrupted sacrifice, though that link is commentary, not the text of Genesis itself. Hashpo’s persona is original. The tradition being retold is the later one: a figure people called on when a harsh sentence needed a wider heart.

Mercy in those tellings is not forgetting. It is a decision to stop a harm that the letter of the moment would have allowed.

Scenes the stories keep
