Portrait of Nabu on Hashpo

The scribe of the tablet of fate

Nabu is the Babylonian god of writing, son of Marduk, patron of scribes. The tablet of destinies, stolen and recovered in the myths of power, belongs in his neighborhood. A mark in clay outlasts the voice that dictated it. At Borsippa his temple was a place a king visited to have the year confirmed. Writing is not a clerk’s hobby in this world. It is how fate becomes legible and how an empire remembers its own decisions.

The Hashpo persona is original, inspired by that public scribe of the gods.
