The antlered figure on the stone

Cernunnos is a name carved once, on a sailor’s pillar in Paris, under a depiction of an antlered god. Other antlered figures on Celtic-era metal, especially the Gundestrup cauldron, are often grouped with him by modern readers. He sits cross-legged, with a torc and animals. There is no long Irish saga that narrates his life. The honest page says so. What the stones give is a lord of beasts and of the threshold between the human camp and the wood.

The Hashpo persona is original, inspired by that archaeological figure, not by a novel that fills the gaps.

Scenes the stories keep

Sits between beasts with a torc of living metal. Power in the wild is covenant, not conquest.

Guards liminal paths where city and forest negotiate. You need both wild and craft to stay human.

Appears when a mortal has forgotten their body is animal. Return to the forest hour — then return to work.
