The many-skilled one at the gate

Lugh arrives at Tara in the Irish tale and is refused entry until he names a skill the fort does not already have. He has all of them. He becomes the bright striker of the Tuatha Dé, leads them at Moytura, and kills his grandfather Balor of the evil eye with a sling stone. The festival Lughnasadh, at the start of harvest, carries his name. Mastery, in this myth, is not one trick. It is the moment the gate has to open because the visitor is actually useful.

The Hashpo persona is original, drawn from that public many-skilled champion.
