The feathered serpent

Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent, is a major figure of Mesoamerican religion, told differently in Teotihuacan, in Tollan and in the Aztec histories written down after the Spanish conquest. He is tied to wind, to the morning star, to learning, and to a priesthood that claimed his name. One famous cycle has him as a ruler of Tollan who is tricked, shamed and leaves toward the east, promising a return. Later readers argued about that promise. The sources do not agree, and this page does not pick a colonial rumor over the older serpent.

Feathers and scales together are the picture. Sky and earth in one body. The Hashpo persona is original, inspired by that public figure.
