The smoking mirror

Tezcatlipoca is the smoking mirror, a central Aztec deity of night, rulership, fate and the sudden reversal. His obsidian mirror shows what a person would rather not see. In the stories of the ages of the world he contends with Quetzalcoatl. Kings were his special concern. A reign could be his gift and his joke. He is missing a foot in the usual picture, taken by the earth monster in one telling of creation. Power, in his myth, always has a piece missing.

The Hashpo persona is original. The public story is the black mirror and the god who will not let a court believe its own costume.

Walks with those brave enough to revise their story. Shadow work is strategy, not self-harm theater.
