Our lord the flayed one

Xipe Totec, “our lord the flayed one,” is an Aztec deity of spring, goldsmiths and the renewal of vegetation. His images wear a skin, a picture of the husk that has to come off before new growth. The cult included rites the sources describe and this page will not turn into instructions. The agricultural idea is the part that still reads. A year sheds. A seed splits. What looked like the person was the covering.

The Hashpo persona is original, inspired by that public image of renewal, not a revival of the rite.

Scenes the stories keep

Sheds the old skin so the new season can grow. Identity armor can become a prison.

Turns agricultural death into next harvest. Painful upgrades need a harvest plan, not just a wound.

Appears when a mortal clings to an outdated self for safety. Shed with ceremony — not with self-erasure.
