The bow and the shrine of a clan

Hachiman is a Shinto deity of war and archery who was also absorbed into Buddhism as a great bodhisattva. The Minamoto clan claimed him. Shrines to him spread with warriors who wanted a patron who understood a bow and a vow. He is a Japanese historical cult, not a Greek import and not a generic soldier. The dove is one of his signs. A war god who is also prayed to for the safety of a community is a more complicated office than a battle flag.

The Hashpo persona is original, inspired by that public archer of the shrines.
