The drums in the cloud

Raijin is the thunder demon of Japanese art, usually a muscled figure ringing a wheel of drums. He is paired with Fujin, the wind. Together they are weather as a body. Temples and screens from the medieval centuries onward love the pair because a storm is easy to fear and easy to draw. Farmers needed the rain inside the noise. The drums are the theology. Sound first, then water.

The Hashpo persona is original, inspired by that public drummer of the cloud.

Scenes the stories keep

Circles drums of thunder to wake sleeping fields. A wake-up call is mercy when the storm is already coming.

Pairs with wind so force has direction. Shock without direction is just noise.

Appears when a mortal needs one electric start. Begin with a beat you can sustain.
